Leadership education.
Done differently.

We provide leadership advisory, governance and quality, and education delivery services, including unique equine-based leadership skills workshops.

Our principles

Energy has impact.

How we are in a moment, and how we manage ourselves within context, generates energy. Our energy directly impacts others in our sphere.

Do you know how your energy influences others? Are you able to regulate your energy in response to how you receive it? Can you take a pause at the same time you are required to act?

Noticing is a skill.

It's a human need to know we are seen by others. It helps us feel safe and validated.

Are you aware of how (or if) you notice others, and are you intentional about this? How does this translate to things that need to be noticed within a workplace?

Everything you do/say is a communicative act.

It's easy to think something. It takes skill to act and speak with deliberate intention, especially when you're in a leadership role.

What is your deliberate practice when it comes to communication? How do you listen? What key messages have you developed for  your 'big moments'?

Growth comes from unexpected connections.

Sometimes we need to step off to the side and do something complete different, to get clarity or grow.

When was the last time you took time out to do something that little bit different to help you give a new perspective? How do expose yourself to different ideas?

Our approach

Canterpoint Leadership was founded by Dr Kate Ames, who has designed experience-based programs that draw on decades of experience and knowledge as a leader in military and education settings.

Kate has spent decades researching the way people communicate - her PhD was in speech patterns in public conversation. As a cultural sociologist, she is interested in people and how they connected within and by systems. As an experienced leader, researcher, and communicator, Kate is able to work with you in a range of ways to support your personal or organisational needs.

In addition to general leadership and communication advisory services, Kate has also developed a unique and focused leadership Equine Program that brings together her knowledge of communication, business, leadership, training, education, and educational neuroscience. It's a story she'll tell you about how she transformed her leadership approach and refined her leadership principles thanks to 'that one horse' who didn't respond to traditional methods, after years of breeding and owning horses.

Whether you simply need to be a better leader for your small team, or want to work on your presence, empathy and listening skills, we can work with you to design a program to suit.
